Our goal at MyFitList is to make it easy for you to find your ideal fitness group and then give you all the information you need to get out there. An important thing to know when trying new class or type of activity is exactly what you should wear to be comfortable and move freely.

This week, Bettysport sent us a few outfit ideas to help you feel confident and comfortable in your next barre, Pilates or yoga class!

First, a few tips on the types of clothing that work best for barre, Pilates and yoga classes:

  • Wear clothing you feel comfortable moving in. Think yoga-style pants and athletic tops.
  • Sleeveless tops are easier to move your arms in. If you wear a top with sleeves, choose tops with comfortable arm holes that don’t restrict movement.
  • You may be upside down or bending over at some point in the class. Tops that are fitted around the waist won’t ride up when you’re moving around.
  • Most barre studios recommend you wear pants that reach at least your knees.
  • Baggy shorts, like running shorts, can be awkward with all of the leg movements you’ll be doing during class. Tights or long pants are definitely the way to go!
  • Try not to wear extra baggy clothing – it’s important for instructors to see your body alignment.
  • Some barre and Pilates studios ask that you wear socks during class, others do not. Check with your studio to be sure.
